Farmer's markets are becoming a lifestyle here in the US. Usually on weekends, eager sellers setup stalls along streets, beside railroads and even in school parking lots selling food, clothing, accessories, plants, beauty and household products, and any other product you can think of. With eager sellers displaying their products, there are even more savvy buyers strolling the streets finding good deals and fresh ingredients for their meals. I even see kitchen crew, chefs and celebrities finding their way around the market. Well, I haven't seen any celebrity yet but a friend of mine saw Jake Gyllenhaal at a farmer's market in LA. You will be amazed with the products you can find. I saw huge heirloom tomatoes in varied tastes (pineapple, mango, peach) and they're very sweet...they're great with salads and even as snacks. Fresh and blooming flowers also abound. You can find lots of street food such as tamales, breads and pastries, korean BBQ, freshly-squeezed juices and seafood bars. They'll even shuck the oysters for you. There are also different types and species of edible mushrooms. Oh, I love mushrooms! My only issue with doing groceries in farmer's markets is that they're a little price compared to most oriental supermarkets. But I guess the choices, varieties and sampling of the products offsets the price.
